Revamping Age of Wonders 3 Campaigns for a More Engaging Experience

As a long-time fan of the Age of Wonders series, I've had the pleasure of exploring various campaigns and scenarios in each installment. While Age of Wonders 3 has its own unique charm, there are certain aspects that could be improved upon to enhance our overall gaming experience.

One feature I'd love to see return is the custom leader campaign, which allowed us to create our own heroes with distinct personalities and abilities. This addition would bring a sense of ownership and progression to our campaigns, as we'd have a personal stake in each hero's development.

Another aspect that has left me underwhelmed is the cliffhanger endings. I understand that they're intended to leave players eagerly anticipating the next scenario, but for me, they only serve as frustrating interruptions. A more satisfying conclusion would be welcome, especially considering the lingering questions surrounding certain storylines.

Speaking of storylines, I feel like Age of Wonders 3's campaigns lack a clear sense of progression and connection between scenarios. In earlier installments, we had a single hero to relate to throughout the campaign, which fostered a greater emotional investment in their journey. Even in Shadow Magic, having three missions per hero provided a sense of structure and purpose.

If I were to suggest changes to the current campaign format, I'd propose introducing new leaders for each scenario, while maintaining a connection between them through shared storylines or character arcs. This approach would allow players to feel like they're making progress throughout the campaign without becoming disconnected from their hero's journey.

Ultimately, it's up to the developers to determine what changes should be made to the Age of Wonders 3 campaigns. I'm confident that by incorporating feedback and addressing these concerns, we can create a more engaging and rewarding experience for fans of the series.
